Job position: IT Manager

Introduction

Mayfair Insurance Company Rwanda Ltd is a General insurance company providing various general insurance products in Rwanda since May 2017. It is regulated by the National Bank of Rwanda and since inception the company has been on an upward trend, experiencing phenomenal steady growth both on the turnover and profitability. Mayfair Insurance Company Rwanda Ltd belongs to a network of Mayfair insurance companies operating in Kenya (since 2005), Zambia (since 2010), Tanzania (since 2016), Uganda (since 2017) and DRC (since 2020).

The Head-office of Mayfair Insurance is located in Makuza Peace Plaza, 2nd Floor.

Job Purpose Statement

IT manager will be responsible and accountable for ensuring the effectiveness of comprehensive management of the Software, hardware, data security, network, and all IT-related functions of the Company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Effective and efficient management of the Company hardware (Servers, PCs, Laptops, UPS, Modems, etc);
  • Effective and efficient management of the Company software (BIMA, …);
  • Effective management of the Company IT Networks (VPN, ..;
  • Effective management of the security of the Company data by performing disaster recovery operations, data back-ups, and ensuring safe and secure data storage.
  • Effectively and efficiently find solutions to various issues encountered by users of Core Business BIMA software in close collaboration with Mayfair group support;
  • Developing and implementing a digit marketing strategy of the company;
  • Support to develop innovatively and IT-based products;
  • Effectively implement various IT projects with various stakeholders including BNR, RURA, MTN, Airtel, RNP, NID, ASSAR, RRA, Aggregators, etc
  • Provide adequate support to staff.
  • Provide adequate and organized training to existing and new staffs on IT
  • Implement protocols of IT safety, policies, and regulations.

Detailed duties:

  • Regularly evaluating the IT systems to ensure they meet the necessary demands.
  • Resolving all issues Staff have with their IT systems and software.
  • Educating Staff on network security and best practices for computer usage.
  • Training staff on newly installed hardware and software systems.
  • Maintaining and administering computer networks and related computing environments including systems software, applications software, hardware, and configurations.
  • Performing disaster recovery operations and data back-ups and ensuring data storage is safe and secure.
  • Troubleshooting, diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and other network and system problems.
  • Maintaining, configuring, and monitoring virus protection software and email applications.
  • Monitoring network performance to determine if adjustments need to be made.
  • Coordinating computer network access and use.
  • Configuring and testing networking software, computer hardware, and operating system software.
  • Installing and configuring Staff computer stations.
  • Providing technical support on-site or via remote-access systems.
  • Tracking and managing IT company End-user records.
  • Server management using remote-access or physical access.
  • IT infrastructure report drafting and presentation.
  • Network Printer setup and configuration.
  • CCTV NVR System management.
  • IT Software and Hardware Asset registration management.
  • Support end-users on Icon ERP issues and the implementation of new requirements.
  • Negotiate contracts with service providers at good prices.
  • Maintain and support voice connectivity.
  • Monitor and ensure that all licenses are renewed on time to avoid denial of services.
  • Configure, upgrade, and maintain servers and ensure they are up to date.
  • Configure, upgrade, and maintain firewalls from external attacks.
  • Configure and maintain MPLS for branches, VPN network connections for users working remotely.
  • Setup, configure and maintain emails for users.
  • Performed day to day administrative tasks by analyzing the database like checking for failed processes and validating disk space on servers.
  • Conduct electrical safety checks on computer equipment.
  • Setup and support audio/visual equipment for presentations and training on and off-site.
  • Work with ISP and other outside vendors to ensure dependable operations.
  • Participate in research and recommendation of improved infrastructure processes and technologies to include growth planning.
  • Assist with the preparation of operating budgets based on estimated and actual expenditures for ICT systems and support needs.
  • Keep ICT equipment, storage area well organized
  • Manage the AD (Active Directory) on the server
  • Manage Domain controller, enforce policies.
  • Support Mayfair Group IT Team with respect to BIMA software of Mayfair Insurance Company Rwanda Ltd.

Reports to:

         The General Manager & the Managing Director.

Requirements for the Role:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in I.T in a financial institution is a plus.
  • A Master’s degree or Bachelor degree in the related field from a recognized university
  • Very good skills and experience in Windows Server configuration/management
  • Very good skills and experience in local and wide areas Network and Network Security management
  • Very good skills and experience in ORACLE, SQL, JAVA
  • Very good skills and experience in end-user support for ERP application
  • Very good skills in writing and speaking English and Kinyarwanda.
  • Very good attitude towards staff,
  • Very focused, organized, and dedicated person.
  • High level of diligence, dedication, planning, execution
  • Professional experience in General Insurance is an added value.
  • Ability to work with a variety of personnel;
  • Ability to remain independent from other functions within the organization;
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English and Kinyarwanda; basic French knowledge would be a plus;
  • Ability to work independently with minimal close-support from the Managing Director.

Salary:

  • Salary: the package is negotiable per experience
