The Development Bank of Rwanda is Rwanda’s only National Development Bank mandated to support Rwanda’s development goals. To help accomplish this ambitious and exciting vision, the Development Bank of Rwanda (BRD) would like to recruit suitably qualified staff to fill the position of Manager-Portfolio Monitoring in Operations Division – Credit Administration & Portfolio Monitoring Department.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage the work of direct reports by assisting in setting work programs, providing guidance, monitoring, and development, problem-solving, assessing performance at regular intervals and drive the team relentlessly to deliver as per agreed business objectives and beyond;
  • Review monitoring reports on the performance status of the clients/projects carrying out checks on the progress of the performance of projects financed by the Bank;
  • Coordinate credit monitoring and management reports and identify the accounts with irregularities and proactively follow-up to ensure corrective actions are taken in line with the credit policy;
  • Constantly monitor allocated credit portfolio and maintain a healthy portfolio;
  • Pro-actively and timely identify potential problems of the financed projects and formulate appropriate risk mitigating strategies for management;
  • Ensure all the performing projects are regularly visited to review their performance; 
  • Plan regular field visits of the projects in the implementation phase to assess proper utilization of the disbursed funds to keep the clients on track for successful project implementation;
  • Coordinate site visit reports/monitoring reports on the performance status of the clients/projects financed by the Bank;
  • Review and validate all projects restructuring proposals;
  • Carry out any other assignment given by the line managers.

Professional, academic qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce/Business Administration/ or related field from a recognized institution.
  • Relevant professional qualification.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience from an institution of similar size in operation, one (1) of which must be at a management level.

Core competencies

  • High level of financial literacy.
  • Speed, accuracy, and efficiency of transactional processes and reporting.
  • Strict adherence to the agreed credit turnaround time and Service Level Agreement (SLA).
  • Credit risk analysis in terms of risk identification, assessment, measurement, and mitigation.
  • Working knowledge of customer service software, databases, and tools.
  • Awareness of the industry’s latest technology trends and applications.
  • Client relation to management skills.

  • Reports to Senior Manager, Credit Administration, and Portfolio Monitoring
