Purpose of the Job:

Ø  Lead knowledge generation, sharing and learning agenda for the project

Responsibilities:

Knowledge Management

a)      Lead development and operationalization of communication and knowledge management strategy and plan

b)      Lead process documentation for the project to enhance learning

c)      Lead in generation/development of knowledge products

d)      Work closely with the program team in defining key issues, messaging, and identifying appropriate communications channels for public advocacy initiatives.

e)      Disseminated developed products to stakeholders through different channels, including ICT channels

f)       Support partnering hub to establish an ICT based platform for improved communication and coordination with its stakeholders

g)      Monitor and evaluate the impact of communication products

h)      Organize learning events to promote south to south triangular

i)        Together with M&E team undertake hub performance evaluation studies

j)        Map skills gaps, access to productive assets (such as finance) and entrepreneurship opportunities

k)      Showcase promising youth agriprenuers by organizing media shows.

l)        Oversee proactive media engagement to generate proactive positive news and increase visibility

m)   Support advocacy campaigns by engaging the media to gain exposure and credibility, managing media sensitivities and risks, and increasing public discussion and fundraising.

n)      Generate and share lessons from project implementation in different for a.

Educational Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Minimum degree in knowledge management, communications, or related fields
  • At least 3 years of experience working communication for development
  • Prior experience in the agricultural sector is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate complicated and technical issues in a concise and clear way, to a wide range of target audiences
  • Demonstrated experience of the key responsibilities, including working with media, managing internal communications, knowledge of digital media, and creating networks
  • Must show demonstrable impact in using communications as a tool for social change
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, including the ability to find, absorb, analyze and prioritize information from many different sources, and proven experience of strategy development
  • Flexibility and adaptability
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in multi-national, multi-cultural teams
  • Computer literate and well versed in basic software (Word, Internet Explorer, Excel, etc).
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills in English, French, and Kinyarwanda.
  • Must have scored the equivalent of A or B+ in Literature in O’ Level.
